When it comes to home organisation, I find it is often the little tools and tweaks that make the biggest difference. You don’t need to spend thousands on a fitted storage system or spend weeks decluttering your entire house to feel a sense of order. What you do need are clever, practical solutions that make everyday life easier and more intentional. These are the kind of things that, once you start using them, you wonder how you ever managed without.

Self adhesive cable holder clips
Cables are a seemly small element that can actually make a space feel very disorganised and unintentional. If you have cables that look scattered and unappealing, I cannot recommend cable clips enough. Have a charging cable that awkwardly hangs down when you’re done charging? Cable clips. Awkward wire running loosely on the floor between furniture? Boom, cable clips will neatly adhere them to the wall. Lots of disorganised cables? You already know what I’m going to say…
Clear storage bins
This one is very simple and low hanging fruit but honestly it’s the must-do cornerstone or home organisation. These are amazing for fridge shelves, which often don’t have much vertical space to reach different condiments and jars. I like to corral them into a bin so I can easily slide it out and access what I want when needed, rather than them being in a lose, disorganised cluster. Other than the fridge, they are great for shelves, pantries, bathroom organisation, your makeup drawer, and anywhere you have things loosely lying around. Even if you can’t think of a current use (and I’m sure there is one) it is honestly so helpful to keep a few extras around to pop into place when needed.
Drop-off dish
This is an excellent and cost-effective for someone who is looking to elevate their home both in decor and organisation. Most often this can be a cute dish to drop off keys, which can be both stylish and incredibly functional. That is because the best organisation is the one you can form a habit around. Having a designated drop-off dish for keys will prevent you losing them, and you can consider other elements of your life that would benefit, such as mail.
Drawer dividers
There is something about an unorganised drawer that feels like a black hole for your things. You throw something in, and when you need it, it somehow disappears into the abyss. Drawer dividers fix this instantly. Whether it is your kitchen cutlery drawer, your office supplies, or even socks, breaking a drawer into sections makes you use the space more intentionally. I also find it makes tidying up faster because you know exactly where everything belongs instead of shoving it back in at random.
Over-the-door hooks
These are one of the most underrated home organisation tools. If you are low on space, adding storage to the back of doors can change everything. For example, they can be used in the bathroom for towels, in the bedroom for dressing gowns, and in the utility area for shopping bags. They can be a temporary solution or a long-term fix, and potentially excellent for students or anyone making a space a home on a temporary basis, but either way, they prevent things from piling up on chairs or being left on the floor.
Label maker (or even just labels and a pen)
This one sounds a little over the top until you actually do it, especially if you're passionate about giving every thing a place. Labelling bins, baskets, and even spice jars means you don’t need to rummage around trying to figure out what goes where. It is especially helpful if you live with other people, since it removes the guesswork and makes it clear where things should go back. Plus, there’s something very satisfying about opening a cupboard and seeing everything neatly labelled.
Foldable fabric bins
I love these because they look nice while hiding away the messier categories of stuff. They are great for things like scarves, winter hats, toys, or cables and chargers you don’t use daily. The fact that they are foldable also means if you don’t need them, you can just tuck them away until you do. They give a cleaner look to open shelving, and you don’t feel like you are looking at visual clutter.
Lazy Susan turntables
These are especially helpful in kitchens and bathrooms where bottles and jars tend to pile up. Instead of reaching to the back of a cupboard and knocking everything over, you just spin the turntable and grab what you need. It’s one of those small things that makes your everyday routine smoother. You can also use them for skincare products on the vanity.
